I got tenure. That’s it. My mom put the letter from the University President on her fridge under my daughter’s preschool graduation certificate.
The process was long and tedious and involved putting together an exacting packet to specification and at least 10 letters: 5 from external evaluators and 5 from different CSU admins.
General feeling: somewhat anticlimactic, like what do I do now? But also of the ability to take greater risks and pursue things that are maybe a little bit crazy. And gratitude to live in a state that still has robust tenure and academic freedom protections.
